History

Thousands of years ago glaciers left behind something that we see today in the form of architectural beauty. It is not possible to overlook that the world of nature is a very "stony" region and it is the stone that makes history here. A large number of cultural historical buildings of the brick gothic can be admired. Stone Age mass graves made from giant erratic boulders, old fieldstone buildings, Middle Age defence systems and important buildings of the North German brick gothic, such as the monastery ruins in Boitzenburg or the Sankt Marien Church in Prenzlau, are silent witnesses from past and interesting times.
